Development of Personal Style

This painting was a reaction to a recent process of buying a house. The piece is made from small paintings of all the things a house can be seen as including shelter, refuge, family, investment and associated feelings of safety, warmth and certainty. This process of literal representation of emotive feelings and concepts is a great exercise in students developing their own style. Style is stronger when it is underpinned with personality; the ability to weave ones feelings into an aesthetic develops personality in a work and  hence a stronger personal style.
