A Progression For Life Drawing
These drawings are from an MTeach visual art workshop, started with a page of quick 30 second drawings slowly progressing up on tim to a final 10 minute drawing. Along with the different times I would also focus on using different elements (line, shape colour, etc) for each of the drawings, but that may bee to much for one workshop.
With my own drawing I focus on looking at areas of dark and light within the composition and drawing those shapes, navigating from one shape to the next to build the composition. I try very hard to draw what I see, not draw what I think the object should look like. I believe this is an important lesson to teach for observational drawing and scaffolds the drawer into creating more realistic perspective even if the style looks a bit more abstract.
